The museum festival is called Night of the Museums, and as Vajdahunyad Castle is the home of the Hungarian Agricultural Museum (Magyar Mezogazdasagi Muzeum), the gates of the castle will be long open during the Night of the Museums event. The festival is usually in June, summer time in Hungary. This special night you can visit many museums in the city of Budapest at a discount price, and you can expect to see concerts, shows and other events!
The participating museums have very long opening hours, open until late night, special programs, concerts, workshops, cheaper admission prices, etc. Needless to say, the Night of Museums programs are in fact an all day event, starting from around 10 am in the morning. There are lots of interesting things to do with children, but activities for adults are also abundant. This is a very night festival when the museums step out of their usual frames. Please note that the festival is immensely popular and there are usually long queues building up for the night events.
Vajdahunyad Castle, as the home of the Museum of Agriculture in Hungary, is one of the main venues of the festival events.
Please note that the date of the Night of Museums Festival is a moving date, following the combination of Midsummer’s Eve and Saturdays.
